Today will mark a new development in the infrastructure facilities in Khor Fakkan, as some new projects will be opened officially.
The projects are also expected to bolster the tourist facilities in the city, in addition to strengthening its infrastructure. The projects were kick started in line with the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
One of the most prominent features of the developmental project is the 89-km long stretch Sharjah—Khor Fakkan Road Project. The road cuts through the kajar mountains and will ease the commute time for motorists, reducing it to as low as 45 minutes to navigate between the two cities. The project cost an estimate Dh 5.5 billion.
The first stretch of the road extends for 65 km and is a dual carriageway with two huge lanes on both sides. The drainage of water has been catered to by the establishment of seven underpases, 14 intersections and slipways. The second 24-km stretch of the road traverses through the mountains to Khor Fakkan.
